The recent storm on Tuesday, April 29 took a heavy toll on the Pittsburgh area. Fortunately, our community weathered the storm relatively unscathed. There were some fallen branches and a portion of a small crabapple tree was damaged. There were a couple of isolated roof and siding issues.
The Association has been working with an arborist and professional tree trimming company to maintain the many mature trees in the community . This work includes pruning and trimming large trees on a 3-5 year cycle, removing unhealthy trees and professionally planting new trees. Most importantly, steel cabling and wiring were installed on specified trees to limit twisting and to allow the tree to sway as one unit in strong winds.
In addition, the Association's roofing maintenance contractor completed maintenance work on all fifty-one buildings in the weeks prior to the storm. The contractor replaced missing shingles, fixed nail pops, sealed and tightened roof vents, resealed and tightened gutters and made upper siding repairs.
The on-going roof and tree maintenance work done in coordination with our Property Manager helped to minimize the potential damage from the storm. The Association is very appreciative of our contractors and their hard work and dedication to our community.
